BOROUGH PARK — A pair of drive-by shooters killed a man who was driving a van for a homeless services organization run by former City Council Speaker Christine Quinn during a broad daylight attack, police and Quinn said.

Henry Nashan, 36, was driving a van east on 46th Street about 12:20 p.m. when he reached New Utrecht Avenue and another car pulled up beside him and opened fire, hitting him several times in the torso, according to the NYPD and witnesses.

“Earlier today, in an act of senseless violence, a Win employee transporting one of our clients to an appointment to complete a housing application was shot and killed in Brooklyn," said Quinn in a statement.

"We cannot begin to express the sadness this incident brings to our organization, its staff, and our clients. Thankfully, no other persons in the vehicle were hurt in the incident."

Nashan was pronounced dead at Maimonides Hospital, police said.

The man was alone in the vehicle when he was shot, an NYPD spokesman said. It was not clear if he had already dropped off the client for the appointment.

The van appeared to have three bullet holes in the driver's-side door and had crashed into a metal beam underneath the elevated D train along New Utrecht Avenue.

The suspects, two men in their 20s, escaped in their red Nissan Rogue, police said.

It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the shooting, but Quinn added that the organization, which provides shelter to homeless mothers and children, would "suspended all operations" of their vehicle fleet out of an "abundance of caution" during the start of the investigation.

"Win is working with the NYPD to help in their investigation and ensure that the  perpetrators of this heinous crime are held accountable," Quinn added.

Martha Ramirez, 16, was working at a nearby restaurant when the shooting happened.

"We got scared because we didn't know what was going on out there," Ramirez said.  "There were people shooting at each other outside, that's scary."

Anthony Isaac, 42, also works nearby and said he heard three shots.

"It's crazy. In broad daylight? I couldn't believe it," Isaac said. "I'm from Brownsville, I thought that only happened in my neighborhood."
