CLINTON HILL — A man scammed a woman out of $3,800 after telling her to deposit the money in his bank account for an apartment listing she found on Facebook, police said.

The victim, 25, was looking for an apartment on the social media site earlier this month when she was contacted by a man named Terrence Edward, who told her he had an apartment available at 195 Willoughby Ave. in Clinton Hill, according to a police report.

On Aug. 10, the man told her to deposit $3,800 in his account at the Bank of America at 449 Myrtle Ave., police said.

But when the woman deposited the cash, the man cut off all communication with her, according to police.

When the woman asked the management at 195 Willoughby Ave. about the apartment, they told her no apartments were available and that they didn’t know anyone by the name of Terrence Edward, police said.

Police are now looking for the suspect. No arrests have been made.
