By Shaye Weaver | August 16, 2016 1:31pm

UPPER EAST SIDE — Police are searching for a teen who knocked a man to the ground and demanded his cellphone earlier this month, authorities said.

A 40-year-old Upper East Side resident was walking on East 81st Street between Lexington and Park avenues when a teen approached him at about 3:39 p.m. on Aug. 2 and pushed him to the ground, according to police.

The 16-year-old then demanded his cellphone, but when the victim did not comply, he took off empty-handed, police said.

The victim suffered scratches on his right hand and shoulder. He was not taken to the hospital, authorities said.

Police describe the suspect as standing at 5-foot-9-inches. In a surveillance image, he was wearing a blue hoodie and shorts.

Anyone with information about the suspect can call the 19th Precinct's detective squad at 212-452-0635.
