CROWN HEIGHTS — A man beaten with a baseball bat on Albany Avenue last week has died from his injuries, police said — and a 30-year-old man is now under arrest for his killing.

Wade Dixon, of Flatbush, was assaulted as he walked along Albany Avenue near Rutland Road at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7, by a man who repeatedly beat him with a bat, then fled on foot.

After the attack, the 49-year-old was hospitalized in critical condition at Kings County Hospital. He died from his injuries within a week, the police department said.

On Saturday, 30-year-old Hakeem Drawhorn, of East Flatbush, was arrested in the death of Dixon, charged with murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, court records show. He is being held in custody without bail.

It’s unclear what sparked the violent incident or whether Dixon and Drawhorn knew each other.

Drawhorn is due back in court on Aug. 17, court records show. His attorney could not be reached for comment.
