QUEENS — The owner behind Long Island City's acclaimed John Brown Smokehouse is set to open another eatery in the neighborhood with a barbeque pit that can cook up to 2,000 pounds of meat at once — and diners can get a preview of it at a special event next week.

The Queens Dinner Club, an event series that hosts meals at a different restaurant in the borough each month, will offer a sneak peek feast Monday night at Mothership Meat Company, John Brown owner Josh Bowen's upcoming restaurant on 40th Avenue near 28th Street.

"This is going to be pre-opening," said Jonathan Forgash, an Astoria chef and Queens Dinner Club co-founder. "We're totally psyched."

Unlike John Brown Smokehouse, which focuses on barbeque from Kansas City — owner Bowen's hometown — Mothership Meat Company will offer Texas-style grub.

The restaurant will feature a barbeque pit that Bowen calls "every little BBQ boy's dream," which can cook a ton of meat at one time, according to a press release.

Mothership Meat Company did not return a request for comment on the event.

Tickets to the 7 p.m. dinner, which will also feature a live band, cost $60 and can be purchased here.
