MANHATTAN — A man's face was cut when a thief punched him during a gunpoint robbery near the Guggenheim Museum Tuesday morning, police said.

The 32-year-old victim was sleeping on a bench outside 3 E. 89th St., near Fifth Avenue, about 5:50 a.m. when two men pulled a gun on him, an NYPD spokesman said.

They punched him in the face and swiped his bag, holding his camera and laptop, before fleeing into Central Park, the spokesman said.

The victim suffered a cut to his face and was treated at Lenox Hill Hospital for minor injuries, according to NYPD and FDNY officials.

Police say the first suspect is an 18 to 25-year-old man, standing 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.

Surveillance shows the man walking down the sidewalk with a pair of white headphones on.

The second suspect is also an 18 to 25-year-old man, standing 6 feet tall and 150 pounds, but he had a mustache and goatee. He was also wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, police said.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
