EAST VILLAGE — A man was electrocuted after slipping onto the tracks at the First Avenue L-train station Saturday night and landing on the third rail, officials said.

The 31-year-old man fell onto the tracks on the Eighth Avenue-bound side about 9:15 p.m., police and MTA officials said.

He died at the scene. It was unclear what caused him to fall, officials said.

There did not appear to be any criminality, police said.

Service was suspended both ways between Bedford Avenue and Eighth Avenue for about an hour, the MTA said.
