STATEN ISLAND — A man was found fatally stabbed on a bench near the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in St. George early Thursday morning, police said.
The 30-year-old man, whose name wasn't immediately released, was repeatedly stabbed in the torso during a fight near 75 Richmond Terrace minutes after 2 a.m., an NYPD spokesman said.
Officers responded to the scene after getting a call of a person stabbed and found the victim on a bench near the Staten Island Yankees Stadium, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, they said.
Police spotted a Staten Island man in his 40s nearby and took him in to custody where he's being questioned about whether he was involved, police said.
Sources said the person of interest appeared to be intoxicated and wasn't cooperating with the investigation.
There were no immediate arrests, police said.
