UPPER EAST SIDE — A thief ripped the screen of a window left open in an East 90th Street apartment last week and snatched a $1,300 laptop, according to the NYPD.

The 35-year-old victim returned from work to his East 90th Street home, between Lexington and Park avenues, at about 4 p.m. on July 27 to discover his laptop missing from the top of his bed, police said.

The suspect climbed in through the open rear window after ripping the screen, according to authorities.

The victim also noticed that the metal security gate leading to the back patio was open and his bedroom door, which he always closes and locks, was ajar, police said.

The victim reported the incident to police on July 29.

Police had no description of the suspect.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
