SOHO — Police have released surveillance images and are asking for help to find two men they say stole thousands of dollars worth of iPhones from two Apple stores on the same day last month.

In one theft, at the SoHo Apple store on 103 Prince St., one of the men "dressed similarly" to Apple store employees and walked into an electronics repair room at about 5:30 p.m. on June 1. He grabbed 19 iPhones, worth a total of more than $16,000, out of a drawer then hid the phones under his shirt, police said.

The man then handed them off to the other thief and the pair walked out of the shop.

About an hour earlier, at the Apple Store on 401 W. 14th Street, one of the men stole three iPhones, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 577-TIPS (8477).
