HELL’S KITCHEN — The “severely underserved” far West Side is getting a residential and retail complex that could include tenants ranging from restaurants and cafes to “big-box retailers,” a real estate firm said.

Developer Xinyuan Real Estate, which in November bought the former Speedway gas station site at 615 10th Ave. between West 44th and West 45th streets, plans to build condominiums and retail space there, The Real Deal reported.

Xinyuan has tapped real estate firm RKF to find tenants for nearly 40,000 square feet of retail space over two floors, RKF said in a release.

“The neighborhood is currently severely underserved, and this is the only centrally located, large-scale retail opportunity in Hell’s Kitchen,” RKF vice president Brandon Eisenman said in a statement.

“We will be looking to bring together a variety of retail, food and service offerings, such as markets, big-box retailers, restaurants, retailers, gyms, pharmacies and cafes to serve the area’s growing residential and office population," he added.

The development will also include 82 “upscale" condominiums, RKF’s release said.

“The Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood offers a tremendous opportunity for retailers as it has transformed from an industrial corridor to a desirable residential neighborhood with many developments recently completed and many more expected soon,” Eisenman said.
