City Peace Officer Punches His Brother in Face, Sources Say

QUEENS — A peace officer for the city has been arrested after punching his brother in the face early Wednesday morning, law enforcement sources said.

Gilbert Hyacinthe, 40, of Rego Park, got into an argument with his 37-year-old brother around 12:15 a.m., according to sources.

During the fight, he punched his sibling with a closed fist causing a laceration to his face, sources said.

The brother was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, sources said.

It was not immediately clear what the siblings, who live together, fought about.

Hyacinthe has worked as a peace officer for the Department of Citywide Administrative Services since July 2008, police and DCAS said. Peace officers provide security at DCAS-owned facilities.

“The incident is under review, once we have all the information we will take appropriate action as needed," Cathy Hanson, a spokeswoman for DCAS, said.

Hyacinthe was charged with assault, police said. He had not been arraigned as of Wednesday morning, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.
