Bloods Gang Member Fatally Shot in Head While Walking Dog, NYPD Says

SOUNDVIEW — A man was fatally shot in the head while walking a dog in Soundview Monday afternoon, police said.

Clayton Ross, a 32-year-old Queens Village resident, was in the area with his cousin to pick up a car and visit his father, an NYPD spokesman said.

Ross and the cousin visited the father's home and decided to take the dog for a walk around the neighborhood, police said.

Once they reached 1810 Watson Ave., near Beach Avenue, about 4:52 p.m. someone opened fire, the cousin told investigators.

Ross, a Bloods gang member, was pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center Tuesday, police said.

The cousin told investigators he just started running when he heard the shots and didn't see who opened fire, according to an NYPD spokesman.

There were no immediate arrests, police said.

The motive for the shooting wasn't immediately clear.
