NEW DORP — A dog that went missing after its owner was fatally hit by a truck has been found, according to social media posts.

Oscar the terrier mix had been missing since May 28, when owner Maria Serrano was was taking him for a walk across Amboy and Richmond roads and was hit by a 2014 Toyota Tacoma making a left turn onto Amboy Road, police said.

Serrano, 50, of New Dorp, was taken to Staten Island University Hospital and pronounced dead two days later, police said.

Serrano's family posted fliers online and around the neighborhood in an effort to find the dog.

"They said that [Oscar] was running back and forth frantically, but no one went to grab him," relative Taylor Lombardi previously told DNAinfo New York.

Lombardi did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday but family members posted pictures of them with the dog on Friday.

The driver of the truck, Luigi Tucci, 71, of Lighthouse Hill, remained on the scene after the crash and was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care, according to the NYPD.
