CHELSEA — A new coffee shop opening steps from Penn Station will serve up high-end coffee and pastries to go.

RedEye Coffee, at 423 Ninth Ave. between West 33rd and West 34th streets, planned to debut either Friday or early next week, owner Peter Cecere said Thursday.

La Colombe-brand coffee drinks, SerendipiTea teas, “high-quality” pastries, sandwiches and yogurts will all be on the menu, he said.

“I’m retired, and always wanted to get into the food business,” said Cecere, who lives around the corner from the small shop. “I was getting a little bored over the last few years.”

He plans to do some of his own baking at the shop.

Prices will be similar to those found at Joe Coffee and other high-end coffee purveyors, he said.

“The foot traffic is never ending,” Cecere said of the location. “It’s kind of like Times Square, if you will, without the street performers.”
