YORKVILLE — Zesty Pizzeria & Salumeria has been operating without a legally required permit for almost a year in its new spot on Third Avenue, inspectors discovered on a recent visit to the site.

During a health code inspection this week, the family-owned business at 1670 Third Ave., near East 93rd Street, was cited for opening last June and never getting a permit, and for other violations including failure to keep its hot food at a safe temperature and signs of rodents, according to the Department of Health.

The eatery also has an open violation with the Department of Buildings for building a wooden patio in its backyard without permits, according to city records.
