VIDEO: Thief With Cane Steals Painting from Uptown Church, NYPD Says

 

HUDSON HEIGHTS — A man with a cane casually walked into a local church before stealing a religious painting in a slow-moving theft that was caught on video, police said.

In a video released by the NYPD, the suspect man is shown entering Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church located at 124 Wadsworth Ave. at 12:25 p.m. on May 8, 2016.

The man pauses in the foyer of the church, removes his jacket and wraps the painting in it before walking back out, the video shows. 

He was described as approximately 65 years old, standing about 5-foot-3 and weighing about 150 pounds, police said.
