Attacker Slashes Woman After Asking for Cigarette in Hell's Kitchen: NYPD

HELL’S KITCHEN — An attacker slashed and robbed a woman after asking her for a cigarette, police said.

The victim, a 34-year-old Bronx resident, was smoking near the southeast corner of West 49th Street and 10th Avenue around 3:50 a.m. on April 18 when a man came up to her and asked her for a smoke, she told police.

Soon after, the man said, “f--- you” and slashed the woman with an "unknown cutting instrument,” police said.

The man fled eastbound on West 50th Street with the woman’s $600 iPhone 6 and an unspecified amount of cash, police said.

Police did not say what motivated the attack or where on her body the woman was slashed. The extent of her injuries was unclear.
