Teens Punch Homeless Man in Head on Hell's Kitchen Street, Police Say

By Maya Rajamani | April 21, 2016 10:17am

HELL’S KITCHEN — A teenager punched a homeless man in the head and then harassed the victim when he followed them into a store to confront him and his friends, police said.

The 41-year-old man was panhandling on the sidewalk in front of 440 W. 57th St., between Ninth and 10th avenues, around 5:15 p.m. on April 9 when the teens walked by, he told police.

As the teens passed, one of them punched the man in the head, police said.

After the attack, the victim followed the teens into an unidentified store, where they “continued to threaten and harass him,” the NYPD said.

The teens then fled the store on foot, police said.

It was unclear what motivated the attack.
