► New York Travel Festival

Where: Various locations in Downtown Brooklyn
When: Various times through April 17

Hear from travel industry professionals, startups, media organizations and savvy travelers at this year’s New York Travel Fest. The festival offers expert-led sessions and one-on-one consultations for prospective and seasoned wanderers. For more details and a full list of events, click here.

Screening of “Los Sures” at Metrograph

Where: Metrograph in Manhattan at 7 Ludlow St. (But it’s all about Brooklyn, don’t worry!)
When: Various times through April 21

Williamsburg’s South Side is spotlighted in this documentary pieced together from 16mm footage shot in the 1980s. The film centers around the Puerto Rican and Dominican residents of the area and captures the neighborhood’s thriving street culture as well as many of issues that plagued the south side, such as economic hardship, drugs and gangs. Director Diego Echeverria will be at several of the screenings throughout the weekend taking questions. Watch the trailer here.

Friday, April 15

► Head On DJ Battle: Daft Punk vs. LCD Soundsystem

Where: The Bell House, 149 Seventh St., Gowanus
When: 10 p.m.

Two DJs will spin back-to-back 30-minute sets, one with a Daft Punk theme and the other inspired by LCD Soundsystem. Then the audience will decide who prevails in this musical match-up. This event is free.

Saturday, April 16

► A Walking Tour of Red Hook Cultural and Creative Hubs

Where: Meets at P.S. 15, 71 Sullivan St., Red Hook
When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you live in Red Hook or want to learn more about your neighborhood, this event will literally (and figuratively) walk you through its social and cultural places of importance as well as the economic and community issues that locals are facing. A series of discussions on key issues in the neighborhood will be followed by a “crowd-mapping exercise” of Red Hook’s arts and cultural assets. The walk will include a free pizza lunch.

► Friends of Clinton Hill Library Book Sale and Cat Adoption

Where: Clinton Hill Library, 380 Washington Ave., Clinton Hill
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Take home a new book and a new best friend this Saturday at the Clinton Hill Library hosted by Friends of Clinton Hill and the ASPCA. Gently used books, DVDs and CDs for all ages will be on sale, and cats and some other small animals will be up for adoption. Every pet comes spayed or neutered with up-to-date vaccines and a microchip.

► Habana Outpost Earth Day Expo

Where: Habana Outpost, 657 Fulton St., Fort Greene
When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Habana Outpost is back for the season, kicking off with this Saturday’s Earth Day Expo. Residents can recycle their electronics, get their faces painted, or create edible art with treats from Greene Grape Provisions.

 Book Sale to Benefit the Park Slope Library

Where: Park Slope Public Library, 431 Sixth Ave., Park Slope
When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Browse books, music and baked goods to raise money for programs at the Park Slope public library.

► Brooklyn Crab’s Spring Oyster (and Beer) Fest

Where: Brooklyn Crab, 24 Reed St., Red Hook
When: 2 p.m.

Head to Brooklyn Crab to kick off the outdoor drinking season with unlimited beer and oyster tastings from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets for the oyster fest are priced at $55. Additional food and drinks will be available separately.

► Jazz! The Women’s Viewpoint, Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival    

Where: Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, 1368 Fulton St., Bed-Stuy
When: 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 

Celebrate women in jazz with a free panel discussion featuring female vocalists and musicians, a master class with composer and Grammy-nominated jazz pianist Geri Allen, and a concert to finish off the night. Tickets to the concert are $20 and include a complimentary glass of wine. The events are part of the Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival, which spans across neighborhood business and venues through May 15. 

Sunday, April 17

► Greenpointers Spring Market

Where: Greenpoint Loft, 67 West St., Greenpoint
When: 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

More than 60 local artisans, craft makers and artists will be sharing their fine wares alongside delicious foods from local restaurants this Sunday afternoon. 

► ‘Osso’ Performance at The Owl

Where: The Owl Music Parlor, 497 Rogers Ave., Prospect-Lefferts Gardens
When: 2 p.m.

The experimental quartet Osso — who have performed with Jay-Z, The National, Sufjan Stevens and others — will perform as part of the Chamber Music series put on by local arts group PLG Arts at The Owl Music Parlor. There is a suggested donation of $5 for the concert.

► Classical Concert at the Brooklyn Museum

Where: Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway, Prospect Heights
When: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Enjoy a soprano soloist perform with the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra inside the Brooklyn Museum’s Cantor Auditorium at this springtime concert featuring music by Antonin Dvorak and 20th Century composers Aram Khachaturian and Samuel Barber. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for seniors and museum members.

► A Hip Hop Thrift Shop Benefit

Where: Hope & Anchor, 347 Van Brunt St., Red Hook
When: 7 p.m.

Falconworks Theater Company is hosting a fundraising thrift shop and silent auction at Hope & Anchor with a dance party, beer, wine and snacks. A special pre-party with cocktails from Van Brunt Stillhouse and live music will be held at 7 p.m. Suggested donation is $25 for the dance party and $100 for the earlier cocktail hour.
