EAST VILLAGE — Prospective buyers can now swipe up units in the condominium development going up at East 12th Street and Avenue A with prices starting at $1.1 million, developer Steiner Studios announced.

The seven-story, 82-unit residential building — currently under construction at the former site of a now-demolished church — will offer luxury amenities such as a 50-foot indoor swimming pool, a sprawling fitness center, a sauna, a pet spa and a children’s playroom.

Developer Douglas Steiner of Steiner Studios has estimated the building’s net worth will reach $215 million once each of the luxury pads are sold — a record high for the once-bohemian hood, the Real Deal reported.

The building was designed to complement “the historic East Village neighborhood” with its worn brick façade and snaking greenery, according to a press release from Steiner Studios.

The developer ran up against some controversy when first purchasing the land from Mary Help of Christians Church in 2012 for $41 million — local preservationists pushed back against the condo plan, arguing the development would unsettle the remains that likely lay beneath the grounds of a 19th-century Catholic cemetery, but were ultimately unsuccessful in their efforts to thwart the development.
