A sleeping straphanger on the 7 train realized every New Yorker's worst nightmare Sunday when a giant rat climbed onto his neck and woke him up, video shows.

The passenger was asleep with his head buried in his arms when the rat began scurrying on his lap around 3 a.m. near the Hudson Yards Station, according to the video posted on Instagram.

The man let out “quite a high pitched scream” when he realized he had become the rat’s playground, Antony Lin, who filmed the video, wrote on Instagram.

“Dude was screaming and ran into the next car fast as hell,” Lin said.

Lin said he cut the video short because “I panicked and didn't want him to see my filming since he was headed my way into the other car.”

The NYPD has recommended passengers avoid napping in the subway because 50 percent of reported subway crimes involve sleeping riders, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said last month.
