FINANCIAL DISTRICT — One World Trade Center's 408-foot spire will glow in the colors of the Belgian flag — black, yellow and red — Tuesday evening to show solidarity with a country reeling from Tuesday's terror attacks, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced.

At least 30 people were killed and dozens were injured in Brussels Tuesday morning after explosions were detonated at the city's main international airport and a subway station near the city's center. Terror group ISIS has since claimed responsibility for the attacks.

"Once again, our world has endured another senseless tragedy due to the cowardly acts of truly evil people, but the global community remains united," Cuomo said in a statement. "New York stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Belgium and the rest of the world in rejecting the hate and extremism behind this violence."

Other landmarks around the world, including France's Eiffel Tower, Germany's Brandenburg Gate and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai have been lit up in Belgian colors as well.

The WTC spire was lit in French colors — blue, white and red — following the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris in November.

Cuomo has also asked law enforcement officials to step up security at New York's major transit hubs, airports, bridges and tunnels.
