COBBLE HILL — The team behind the critically acclaimed eatery La Vara this week quietly opened their newest venture, a cafe called Tekoá.

Tekoá is currently in its soft opening, or "pre-opening," at 264 Clinton St. with a limited selection of beverages and pastries that are all made in house, chef Alex Raij said Thursday.

This is the latest venture for Raij, who with her husband, Eder Montero, is also behind the Michelin-starred eatery La Vara, found on the same block. The café space near Cobble Hill Park is the former location of Ted & Honey, a popular eatery that closed in November.

Tekoá has been regularly updating its Instagram page, but the soft opening hasn't yet hit social media.

Raij told DNAinfo New York that the discreet pre-opening is a way to introduce the neighborhood to the coffee shop while they prepare for the official opening tentatively scheduled for next week.

Once it fully opens, Tekoá will serve breakfast and lunch options priced between $5 to $12, including a pork loin and fried egg sandwich and grits with poached egg and shrimp.

The lunchtime dishes include sandwiches with porchetta spiced pork shoulder and salsa verde, Txikito's El Doble burger, butternut squash soup and Milan-style minestrone.

Wi-Fi and outdoor seating is also available.
