MANHATTAN — Two men pushed an MTA worker onto the tracks at the West 4th Street subway station after fighting over cash he'd found, police said.

The 41-year-old man was working on the tracks on the northbound E train when he discovered on undetermined amount of money Feb. 12 at 2 a.m., police said.

Subways were not running on those tracks at the time of the assault.

Two men approached the worker about the cash, causing the employee to hop onto the platform, police said. When the group began fighting, one of the suspects pushed the worker back onto the tracks, injuring his ankle.

The suspects fled, and the worker was transported to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment.

The suspects were described as 30-year-old men, both about 5-foot-11-inches tall, and weighing about 200 pounds.

Police have not yet made arrests and ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
