THE BRONX — Five people were hurt, one of them seriously, when a fire tore through a Morris Heights apartment building Tuesday morning, officials said.
Flames erupted inside 1892 Andrews Ave. S., near University Avenue, about 2:14 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

One person was seriously hurt and treated at Montefiore Medical Center, where they are listed in stable condition, the spokesman said.
The fire displaced people in eight apartments, according to Michael de Vulpillieres of the American Red Cross. Two families were provided emergency housing.
About 168 firefighters helped bring the blaze under control by 4:15 a.m., FDNY officials said.
Fire marshals will determine what sparked the blaze, officials said.
