UPPER WEST SIDE — Zucker's Bagels will serve up its hand-rolled, kettle-boiled bagels in the space formerly occupied by a deli on Columbus Avenue.

The 10-year-old bagel shop first opened in TriBeCa before bringing second outpost to Murray Hill in 2012. It plans to open its third shop at 273 Columbus Ave., near West 73rd Street, this fall, a spokeswoman said.

Owner Matt Pomerantz designed the shop to feel like an old-school bagel joint, with 12 types of smoked and cured fish and homemade spreads. The 1,000-square-foot space, which formerly housed Gotham Foods, is landmarked and will retain its tin ceiling and columns.

The exact number of seats is still being worked out.

In addition to bagels, Zucker's will serve pastrami, salmon, corned beef, grilled chicken and roast turkey sandwiches, salads and La Colombe coffee, as well as black and white cookies and brownies from Eli Zabar.

"We are incredibly excited to open on the Upper West Side, one of NYC’s most beloved and vibrant neighborhoods and one with a very rich bagel history,” Pomerantz said in a statement.

But he has big shoes to fill

In 2011, beloved H&H Bagels was driven out by high rents after serving Upper West Siders since 1972.
