Engaging Artists Exhibition 

Where: Queens Museum, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park
When: noon to 6 p.m.

This ongoing exhibit features work from eight local artists who are participating in More Art's Engaging Artists Residency, who are working on art in the social practice. The artists, who are first generation or foreign-born, used their work to connect with older residents at senior centers throughout the city. On Valentine's Day, the artists will hold a collage activity perfect for kids and adults who will draw and recreate memories on textured fabric. The families will then weave the patches to create a "memory mat" to use at family meals. 

Friday, Feb. 12

Galentine’s Day

Where: Lockwood, 32-15 33rd St., Astoria
When: 5 to 8 p.m.

A pre-Valentine’s Day shopping event at local boutique Lockwood and neighboring clothing store Lockwood Style that will feature a pop-up shop by jewelers Shiny Mix, champagne and other treats, a photobooth and 15 percent off store items.

Saturday, Feb. 13

DJing Workshop

Where:  Local Project, 11-27 44th Rd., Long Island City
When: noon to 4 p.m. 

Learn how to spin records at this free workshop taught by DJ Mauricio Morales. Space is limited, so email info@localproject.org to save your spot.

“Lions of Astoria” Lecture and Book Signing

Where: Greater Astoria Historical Society, 35-20 Broadway, 4th Floor, Astoria
When: 1 p.m. 

Photographer Deborah Fairchild will discuss her book “The Lions of Astoria, Queens,” which features photos of the many lion statues that adorn the neighborhood’s stoops and lawns. The event is free. 

► Great Backyard Bird Count

Where: Queens Botanical Garden, 43-50 Main St., Flushing
When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Join the Queens Botanical Garden for the 19th annual bird-counting event. Results will be added to those submitted from around the world to the Audubon Society. Participants meet at the Visitor & Administration Building lobby. The event is free, but registration is required. 

Sunday, Feb. 14

Dance Party With Lil Kim 

Where: Resorts World Casino New York City, 110-00 Rockaway Blvd., Jamaica
When: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Rapper Lil Kim performs in a show featuring Kid Capri, Bell Biv Devoe, and others. Tickets range from $50 to $120 and can be purchased here.  

► Con Brio Ensemble performs at the Church in the Gardens

Where: The Church in the Gardens, 50 Ascan Ave., Forest Hills
When: 4:30 p.m.

This ensemble will present works for violin, cello, piano, and baritone by Schubert, Schumann and Dvorak. Tickets are $12.

Lunar New Year Dance Sampler 

Where: Flushing Town Hall, 137-35 Northern Blvd., Flushing
When: 12 p.m.

Celebrate the Lunar New Year with dance demonstrations from all over the world, including China, Korea, Taiwan and India. Tickets are free and can be picked up beginning two hours before show time at the venue's box office.

► Terraza 7 Jazz Jam

Where: Terraza 7, 40-19 Gleane St., Elmhurst
When: 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The borough's only weekly jazz jam allows local artists to play with other musicians. The jam opens with Juan Felip Mayorga on drums, Edward Perez on bass and Benito Gonzalez at the piano. The cover is only $5.
