► Koyaanisqatsi Screening

Where: Museum of the Moving Image, 36-01 35th Ave., Astoria
When: 7 p.m.

This indie documentary, depicting humanity's growing divide from nature, will be screened as part of the museum's See It Big! series. Tickets are $12.

Saturday, Jan. 30

Meet Lil BUB

Where: Museum of the Moving Image, 36-01 35th Ave., Astoria
When: 2 p.m.

Internet celebrity cat Lil BUB and his owner will be at the museum for this special event, where they'll chronicle the cat's rise to fame. Standard tickets are $25, while a special $100 ticket will also give you a chance to meet and take a photo with the famous feline at 4 p.m. during a fundraiser for the ASPCA. Cats will also be available for adoption outside the museum from 1 to 5 p.m.

Saturday Night Wine Tasting

Where: Central Queens Y, 67-09 108th St., Forest Hills
When: 8 p.m.

Experts will discuss how and why wine gets its distinct flavors during an evening of wine tasting at the Central Queens Y. Cheese and crackers will also be served. The event is for adults over age 21. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here.

Science Fair How-To

Where: Central Library, 89-11 Merrick Blvd., Jamaica
When: noon to 2 p.m.

It's science fair time! Kids ages 6 to 12 and their families are invited to the children's library discovery center where they will be able to learn about different project ideas and the proper procedures for creating ones at home. The program is free.

► Nature Detectives

Where: Alley Pond Environmental Center, 228-06 Northern Blvd., Douglaston
When: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

It’s not easy to spot animals in the wintertime. But there are clues everywhere and kids can learn how to use them to track down critters. Find out how to identify their footprints and other hints they leave around the park. The program includes a storytime component, craft, a detective game and interaction with live animals. Snacks will be provided. The event is limited to 12 participants. Tickets are $23. Pre-Valentine's Day Market

Where: Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden, 29-19 24th Ave., Astoria
When: noon to 6 p.m.

Get your holiday shopping done early at this event hosted by Astoria Market, which will feature jewelry, clothing, accessories and handmade goods in the main hall of the famed beer garden.

LIC Tours: Queens Cool Uncovered

Where: Long Island City (meeting location to be announced with purchase)
When: 1:30 p.m.

Join BQE Tours for a three hour stroll through Long Island City that will highlight its history and current significance. Stops include a local artist's studio and neighborhood businesses for samples. Tickets are $65. Purchase tickets here.

Butter Making for Kids

Where: New York Hall of Science, 47-01 111th St., Corona

When: 10:30 a.m.

Butter doesn't have to be boring. Teach your kids how to jazz up this dairy treat with different ingredients and flavors at the latest event in the museum's Little Makers series. It's $8 in addition to the cost of admission to the museum.
