UPPER WEST SIDE — Police are looking for a man they said robbed women while they were shopping in Midtown and on the Upper West Side this fall.

Ramon Arce, 50, who also goes by Donny Vega, stole women's purses while they were shopping in September and October of last year, police said.

On Sept. 11 at 11:40 a.m., Arce stole a 69-year-old woman's pocketbook, which contained credit and debit cards, while she was shopping at Fairway at 2127 Broadway, at West 74th Street, police said.

The next day at 2:40 p.m., Arce stole a 47-year-old woman's wallet, which had credit cards and an unknown amount of cash, while she was waiting in line at Magnolia Bakery at 1240 Sixth Ave., at West 49th Street, police said.

A few hours later, at 5:10 p.m. Arce removed a 59-year-old woman's wallet, which held her credit cards and an unknown amount of cash, from her pocketbook while she was shopping at Bergdorf Goodman at 745 Fifth Ave., at East 58th Street.

Nearly a month later on Oct. 7, Arce stole a 60-year-old woman's wallet, which contained credit cards and an unknown amount of cash, from her pocketbook while she was shopping at Zabar's at 2245 Broadway, at West 80th Street.

He has a history of theft and was arrested for stealing property on the Upper West Side in 2007, police said.

Police ask that anyone with information call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
