Rather than "hitting an all-time low" as you weep for a otherworldly rock icon who's returned to whatever planet he came from, you could instead fashion a new persona for yourself, and trot it out for a night on the town, just like David Robert Jones, a.k.a David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust/Thin White Duke/Major Tom/Aladdin Sane would have wanted you to.

Taking a cue from our friends at Brokelyn, we've rounded up a few events that will celebrate the life of David Bowie this week.

MONDAY

► Music Video Time Machine: Remembering David Bowie

Where: The Fifth Estate, 506 Fifth Ave., Park Slope
When: 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

As "an ongoing series of live event experiences, centered on playing classic music videos ... [and] accented by high-spirited creative shenanigans you won't soon forget," Music Video Time Machine organizer Stephen Pitalo is paying homage to Bowie by curating a collection of videos that encapsulates his entire career.

Prep for the retrospective by watching some of Bowie's videos here.

Monday Night Tribute: BOWIE

Where: C'mon Everybody, 325 Franklin Ave., Bed-Stuy
When: 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The Bed-Stuy venue hosts a tribute every second Monday and had announced Bowie's in December, but it took on new meaning today. The news of the rock star's death came in as organizers were finalizing the song order for this evening's live music.

Advance tickets are sold out, but there will be some walk-up tickets available for those who arrive before 7:30 p.m.
