QUEENS — A man was arrested after killing his girlfriend’s dog by slamming the animal against the floor in front of the woman’s 11-year-old daughter, authorities said Monday.

Carlos Hernandez, 32, of Jackson Heights, was arguing with his girlfriend on Sunday about 4:15 p.m. inside her apartment on 113th Street, near 76th Road, the Queens District Attorney's office said.

As the couple fought, the woman was holding the 3-year-old Chihuahua in her arms, authorities said.

At some point, the man got so angry that he ripped the pet from her hands and slammed it on the ground, causing the pooch to bleed from its ears and collapse on the floor, prosecutors said.
