THE BRONX — A Morris Park father jealous that his wife paid more attention to their infant son than to him murdered the boy then dumped his body in the woods upstate, according to the NYPD and reports.

Jose Feliciano, 51, choked and smothered newborn Mason Whyte on Dec. 10 in 1849 Bogart Ave. after he would not stop crying, and he and his wife then drove upstate to dispose of the body in the woods, according to reports.

Relatives said the couple had been fighting for weeks, according to the New York Daily News.

He was charged with murder, manslaughter and manslaughter of a person less than 11 years old, police said.

On Thursday, the mother, who The New York Times identified as Danielle Whyte, was taken to a Manhattan hospital after trying to commit suicide by taking pills and was later transferred to New York Presbyterian Hospital in White Plains, the Times said.

Hospital workers then contacted police on Friday at roughly 3 p.m. and said that she had told them about the death of her infant son, which brought the officers up to Dover, New York in Duchess County to conduct a canvass, according to the NYPD.

They found Mason's body in a wooded area by Route 22 and Kitchen Corner Road, police said.

Feliciano was still waiting to be arraigned as of Monday afternoon.
