ASTORIA — Suspects stole thousands of dollars from the bank accounts of Astoria residents in two separate incidents, according to the NYPD.

The first incident took place the morning of Oct. 14, when an unknown male suspect used forged checks at two different banks in The Bronx in order to withdraw $1,437 from the bank account of a 46-year-old Astoria man, police said.

A second, separate but similar incident took place a month later on Nov. 11, when a woman walked into a Chase bank branch on Main Street in Flushing and used the personal information of a 75-year-old Astoria woman to take $3,250 from her account, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
