PROSPECT HEIGHTS — The Brooklyn Museum just freed up their Thursday nights, thanks to a new corporate sponsorship.

Admission to the museum will be free every Thursday evening starting next month, the institution announced on Tuesday, covered by a partnership with the web publishing platform Squarespace.

Typically, the price of museum admission is a suggested donation of $16 for adults, $10 for students and seniors and free for members and children.

But beginning Jan. 21, no one will be asked for admission to the museum from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays, the Brooklyn Museum said in a press release. In addition to providing funding for the new “Thursday Nights” special, Squarespace will build a “microsite” dedicated to special programming on the free Thursdays.

"This exciting partnership will do so much to expand opportunities for our audiences to experience and engage with local artists of all disciplines, and we couldn't be more delighted," said museum director Anne Pasternak in a statement.

No end date for the weekly sponsorship has been discussed, museum staff said. Squarespace has committed to providing free admission on Thursdays on an ongoing basis.

During the January launch of the free Thursdays, museum visitors will be able to access all current exhibits including “Coney Island: Visions of an American Dreamland” and “Agitprop!” — a look at how artists have used their work to spur social and political change.

The new partnership with Squarespace is not the first major sponsorship at the Brooklyn Museum to provide free admission to the space. Target has long provided support for special programming and free admission to the museum on the first Saturday of each month as part of “Target First Saturdays.”
