Warmer-Than-Normal Weather to Stick Around Through Christmas

By Sybile Penhirin | December 15, 2015 6:14pm

NEW YORK CITY —  So much for a white Christmas.

The warmer-than-usual weather we've been experiencing will likely continue for at least 10 more days, with temperatures staying above the normal December average of the lower 40s, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Joe Pollina.

Even then, it might not get chilly any time soon.

"If we look at the three-month outlook — December, January and February — there's a 40 to 50 percent chance of seeing above-normal temperatures, which is pretty significant," said Pollina.

The average temperatures in New York City for those winter months usually range from 30 to 45 degrees, he added.

Needless to say there, is no snow in the forecast for Christmas Say, Pollina said.

The temperature will stay in the 50s for the rest of the week, but rain will drench the city on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, according to weather forecasters.

It will get a little colder this weekend, when temperatures will drop to 40 degrees on Saturday, but it will start to feel a little warmer on Sunday, according to Pollina.

"We should have high 50s on Monday and temperatures in the middle 50s for Tuesday," Pollina said.
