THE BRONX — A man was arrested after stabbing his 31-year-old wife multiple times inside a Bronx home Tuesday and then fleeing with their 3-year-old daughter to New Jersey, according to the NYPD.

Diomedes Valenzuela, 51, attacked his wife during a domestic dispute inside 2974 Perry Ave. near Bedford Park Boulevard at about 1:44 p.m. and then fled with Rebecca Valenzuela over the George Washington Bridge into New Jersey in a silver 2004 Dodge Caravan, according to officials.

He was taken into custody several hours later, and his daughter was rescued unharmed, police said.

His wife was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition.

It was not immediately clear if the husband and wife were living together, an NYPD spokesman said.

An Amber Alert was issued by New Jersey State Police.

It was not immediately known where in New Jersey Valenzuela was taken into custody or which authorities arrested him.
