Burglary Suspect Sought for Breaking Into Uptown Buildings

FORT WASHINGTON — Police are searching for a man suspected of breaking into several apartments in the neighborhood this month. 

The suspect broke into 250 Forth Washington Ave. on Nov. 5, along with several other properties in the area, the NYPD said. Police did not provide details regarding which other addresses were targeted and what items were taken due to an ongoing investigation. 

Police are urging residents to take preventative measures like locking their apartment doors and not buzzing strangers into buildings.

Burglaries are down about 12 percent in the 33rd Precinct so far this year, compared to the same time period in 2014.

The numbers have beeen decreasing in recent years, with 163 burglaries recorded in 2012, 118 in 2013 and 111 in 2014, the NYPD said.
