MANHATTAN — Police released surveillance video of a man they say grabbed a jogger by her hair and raped her in East River Park.

The 26-year-old woman was jogging in the park at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when a man on a bicycle approached her near Cherry Street and motioned her to be quiet, police said.

The victim turned and tried to run away from the man but he grabbed her hair, put his arm around her throat, pulled her into an amphitheater and raped her, police said.

The woman was taken to Beth Israel Hospital where she was treated and released.

The suspect took the woman's cell phone and credit cards and fled the scene, police said. He was later caught on surveillance video using one of the credit cards inside a deli, police said.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
