LOWER EAST SIDE — A 22-year-old man looking to leave a gang endured a ritual beating inside a Lower East Side park last week, suffering injuries that required nearly 30 stitches to close, police said.

Police said the victim met two men and a woman at the corner of East 12th Street and Avenue D and walked with them to Corlears Hook Park at Jackson and Cherry streets, where they attacked him at 3 p.m. on Nov. 22 in a “jump out" required to leave the gang.

When the victim was on the ground, the woman cut him with a blade causing a laceration on his right hand and lower back, which required 27 stitches, according to the NYPD. The 22-year-old was taken to and treated at Montefiore Hospital's Westchester Square Campus, police said.

No further details were available about the suspects’ descriptions.
