FLATBUSH — Two quick-thinking police officers gave a Brooklyn mom something special to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

The two officers helped a woman deliver her baby on a sidewalk near Flatbush Avenue and Glenwood Road on Monday, according to the NYPD.

Officers Kelly Brown and Doris Cordero of the 78th Precinct were in their patrol car when someone flagged them down to help a 34-year-old woman who was "in distress" on the sidewalk, said a police spokeswoman.

The officers got out of their car and saw the woman "with the baby dangling from her," the spokeswoman said.

Things moved fast from there.

"Officer Brown observed the baby, who was now on the sidewalk, and quickly picked her up to ensure she was breathing properly," according to an account on the NYPD's Facebook page.

Brown then shielded the mom with his coat while Cordero wrapped the newborn in a blanket from a nearby store, the spokeswoman said.

An ambulance arrived moments later, checked the baby's airways, and took the newborn and mom to Kings County Hospital, police said. Both were in good condition, police said.

The two officers got a shout-out from their boss, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton, on Twitter. "Nice job Officers Brown & Cordero," Bratton tweeted. "From protecting NYC to delivering babies, #ItsWhatWeDo."
