PARK SLOPE — This thief snagged some liquid gold.

Someone snatched a purse and a cooler full of breast milk from a mom while she was changing her baby's diaper on a recent Sunday morning, according to a police report.

The mom, Simina Kroculick, told neighborhood blog Park Slope Stoop that the theft happened as she was changing her 7-month-old daughter's diaper on the seat of the family's SUV on Union Street near Eighth Avenue.

Kroculick and her husband were on their way to Prospect Park to take some family photos when the theft happened at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 15, Park Slope Stoop reported.

While Kroculick's husband walked ahead to the park with the couple's 2-year-old son, Simina Kroculick stayed behind in the car, where her 7-month-old daughter was sleeping in a car seat.

When the infant woke up, Kroculick started to pack up a stroller with her purse, toys, and a cooler of breast milk — sometimes called "liquid gold" because of its benefits for babies.

Before heading to the park, Kroculick paused for a few minutes to change the baby's diaper while the stroller was on the street next to the car.

That's when the quick-moving thief swiped her purse, the cooler, and other valuables, including Kroculick's car keys and a Buy Buy Baby gift card, according a police report.

“I was looking away for the amount of time it takes to change a diaper,” Kroculick told Park Slope Stoop. “I thought, someone could not have done this. How could this have happened in this small window of time? Were they watching?”
