PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS — Nostrand Avenue is set to get a little mo’ winey.

A new wine shop, Little Mo Wine & Spirits, is opening for business on the avenue next week, its owner Mark Schwartz said, bringing reds, whites and a variety of liquor to the neighborhood.

As a longtime wine enthusiast (and winemaker at his Prospect-Lefferts Gardens home), Schwartz hopes Little Mo fills a need in an area he feels has had “no place to buy wine of quality” until now. At the same time, he’s aiming to make the place accessible to expert wine drinkers and beginners alike.

“I really want it to be a wine shop that is for the neighborhood and for the community. That means that there’s going to be a little bit of everything … [and] many, many wines are going to be $12,” he said.

Small-batch booze will be for sale at the shop, too, with a particular focus on rums from Grenada, Panama and Jamaica.

After the opening, Schwartz has plans to partner with neighboring businesses, including Santana Cigars and the new Desserts by Michael Allen, to do pairing events. In addition, a big “pairing chart” in the back of the store at 1125 Nostrand Ave. near Midwood Street will suggest the best wines to go with local takeout, like Trinidadian doubles and jerk chicken, Schwartz said.

“[We’re] stretching the boundaries of things people think wine is appropriate for,” he said.

Little Mo — so named for Schwartz’s daughter — will also provide free delivery to Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and neighboring areas including Crown Heights, Kensington, Ditmas Park and, possibly, areas west of Prospect Park, “if you’re really nice,” Schwartz joked.

Little Mo Wine & Spirits is located at 1125 Nostrand Ave. For more information, visit the store’s website at littlemowine.com.
