CRIME BLOTTER: Woman's Wallet Stolen From Front Stoop Steps

PARK SLOPE — A woman's wallet was stolen after she left it on the front stoop of her apartment building for "approximately two minutes," according to a police report.

The 36-year-old woman placed her wallet on the front steps of her building on Sterling Place near Seventh Avenue on Oct. 20 at 11:26 a.m. She was talking on her cell phone at the time and went inside her house for about 120 seconds, according to the report.

When she came back outside, the wallet was gone. It contained $143 in cash, a Chase debit card and other valuables, the report stated.

Other notable recent crimes in the 78th Precinct include the following, with details drawn from police reports:

► A woman reported Oct. 20 that her apartment on President Street and Sixth Avenue had been burglarized Sept. 1 and that the thief had stolen an $80,000 Cartier diamond ring, a $4,000 Louis Vuitton bag, a $2,000 Dolce & Gabbana bag, a $400 Longchamp suitcase, $1,200 in cash, an Antiguan passport and an iPhone.

The woman said she believed the theft happened while she and her roommate "had a friend named Raul staying with them for a few days."

► A burglar broke into Die Koelner Bierhalle on St. Mark's Place and Fourth Avenue at 4:25 a.m. on Oct. 25 and stole a cash box with $2,000 inside.

► A customer at Sharlene's, the bar on Flatbush Avenue near Park Place, had his bag and laptop stolen Oct. 18 at 11 p.m.

► A 2008 Nissan Ultima was stolen from Carroll Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues Oct. 23.

► The tires and rims were stolen off a 2015 Infiniti Q70 on Third Street and Eighth Avenue and the car was left on cinder blocks Oct. 24.

► An $1,100 Xtracycle cargo bike was stolen from Prospect Place near Flatbush Avenue while its owner was inside watching TV on Oct. 18.

Overall in the 78th Precinct, major crimes have increased 3.84 percent this year compared to the same period in 2014, according to the most recent statistics from the NYPD.
