BUSHWICK — A woman was injured Friday afternoon after a bullet struck an MTA bus she was traveling on, officials said.

The B13 bus was traveling north on Wyckoff Avenue between Harman Street and Greene Avenue around 2.30 p.m. when a bullet hit the window, police and MTA officials said.

The woman was cut by shards of glass, officials said.

She was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in stable condition, according to the NYPD.

Police could not say whether the bullet was a stray or the bus had been targeted.

The superintendent of a nearby building said he was taking out the trash when the shooting happened.

"I heard two shots," said the witness, who asked to remain anonymous.

The witness described the victim as an elderly woman, and said she was able to walk out of the bus to a waiting ambulance. Her head was in bandages, the witness added.

"You never think something like that is going to happen," said Eva Valdez, 40, who has lived in Bushwick for the last four years.

A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous because of safety concerns, said she initially thought the bus had been in an accident.

"I've been living here for 30 years," she said. "Nothing like this has ever happened."
