UPPER EAST SIDE — The Marymount School for girls is planning to expand into a new building on East 97th Street featuring an auditorium, an art studio, science labs, a cafeteria and a greenhouse.

The private Catholic school, which already has three other buildings, is planning to develop a 231-foot-tall building at 115 E. 97th St., with roughly 13 stories offering a wide range of uses — all of which will be discussed at an information session on Thursday, according to Marymount School officials.

Marymount declined to comment on the plans, but records filed with the city's Department of Buildings show that the building will include an auditorium, a gym and fitness spaces, an auditorium and media lab, science labs, art studio space including a kiln room, a cafeteria and kitchen and many classrooms, study rooms and student commons areas, according to the plans.

The building, which will be designed by CookFox Architects, will also have three terrace gardens, a green house and a garden court, too, as first reported by newyorkyimby.com.

Currently the school uses the empty lot on East 97th Street, where the new building would go, as a tennis court and field, which is located across the street from its Upper Middle School. That building already houses a media production lab, a gym, a music room, a "data visualization lounge," a dance studio and fitness room and space for visual and performing arts, according to the school's website.

The school has owned the lot since 2012 when it bought it for $21 million, according to city records.

The informational meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m. at the Upper Middle School at 116 E. 97th St.
