RED HOOK — A woman was injured in Red Hook after a man walked up and started pounding on her parked car and then slammed the door onto her when she tried to get out, authorities said.

Joseph Lanza was arrested after he attacked the 34-year-old victim Oct. 10 around 2:25 a.m. at 202 Coffey St., police said.

When the victim tried to get out of the vehicle, Lanza slammed the car door onto her body. Once she exited the car, Lanza pushed her, slapped her face and punched her repeatedly, according to the criminal complaint from the Brooklyn DA's office.

According to police, Lanza and the victim did not know each other.

Lanza was arrested and charged with assault, criminal mischief, attempted assault, menacing and harassment.

The victim suffered injuries to her back, shoulder, neck and forehead. She was treated by Emergency Medical Services.

The car also had a several scratches and dents as a result of the incident.

Lanza is due back in court Dec. 1. Attorney information was not immediately available.
