WINDSOR TERRACE — Locals who want to weigh in on whether Windsor Terrace needs 15 speed humps will get their chance at a meeting Tuesday.

Community Board 7's transportation committee is scheduled to discuss a city plan to install the car-slowing concrete humps at 6:30 p.m. in the Holy Name of Jesus Church Shepherd's Hall, at 245 Prospect Park West.

The Department of Transportation wants to install the speed humps as part of a neighborhood-wide pedestrian safety initiative that officials first unveiled in January 2015.

The community board must approve the speed humps, which would be installed on Windsor Place, Terrace Place, Sherman Street, Seeley Street, Vanderbilt Street, Prospect Avenue, 18th Street, 19th Street and Kermit Place.

Some residents worry the speed humps would create noise and slow down emergency responders, South Slope News reported, but roughly 300 people have signed a petition circulated by City Councilman Brad Lander in support of the speed humps.

“Right now being struck by a car or truck is the leading cause of injury-related death for children in NYC, and less speeding means fewer deaths to traffic,” Lander said in a message encouraging people to sign the petition.
