UNION SQUARE — A man in a hard hat stole $900 worth of copper from a Verizon cellular tower near Union Square in broad daylight, police said.

The man broke through a dead bolt lock about 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 30 to get onto the roof of 110 W. 14th St., police said.

The man, dressed in tan pants and a dark Nike T-shirt with a bright-colored logo, stole 20 pounds of copper and two copper grounding plates from the Verizon tower on the roof and then fled, police said.

The NYPD provided images of the man from surveillance video taken at the tower.
