CORONA — World-renowned cricket players will take to the turf at Citi Field in November as part of a U.S tour.
The Cricket All-Star Series comes to Queens on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m., part of a tour that includes stops in Houston and Los Angeles.
Stars Sachin "Master Blaster" Tendulkar and Shane "King of Spin" Warne are featured, and the Indian and Australian players will renew their rivalry in a T20 game, officials said.
"Sachin's Blasters" and "Warne's Warriors" feature some of the world's best players — including Trinidadian Brian Lara, who played for the West Indies, and Pakistan's Wasim Akram.
It's the first time these international stars will play in the United States, and part of a push to expose Americans to the world's second most popular sport.
“Americans are so passionate about sports, and I think there’s a huge potential for cricket to take off," Tendulkar said in a statement.
Cricket's popularity is apparent in New York City, with fields set up in parks around the five boroughs, the most being in Queens.
Many public high schools also feature cricket for students.
Tickets for the Cricket All-Star Series go on sale Thursday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.
